Modded Server is Ready for Testing
The map can be found at map.catbird.digital. Roads, shops, and fast travel locations are all listed on the map, and players can purchase their own markers on the map with money. To do this, scroll all the way to the bottom of this page and fill out the form.
For ease of navigation, roads and canals will be marked on the map. To be marked, roads and canals must meet certain standards. must be 3 blocks across, constructed from smooth stone, covered with enough light to prevent mob spawning for their entire length, and must have slabs for every change in elevation. In other words, changes in elevation must be made in .5 block increments. Roads must either hug the terrain, tunnel through the terrain (a 3x3 tunnel, with the floor made from smooth stone, still lit with torches) or be on an elevated viaduct as outlined below. When roadways are completed, they're marked on the map and fast travel between them becomes possible.
Viaducts, like roads and tunnels, must be constructed of smooth stone with a road surface at least 3 blocks wide. They must have fences along the edges outside of the 3-wide road surface. Viaducts must be supported by columns, the standards for which vary by elevation. This top-down view shows the surface of a viaduct. The carpet is for scale.
Low-elevation viaducts must be supported by a column of smooth stone placed every 10th block (so, 9 unsupported blocks between each column). At each column, flare out the road surface to attach the fences as shown in the top-down view below. Torches should be placed at every column, plus one additional torch situated exactly between the two columns as shown below in the top-down view. Every 5th fence block should have a torch on top.
The roadway standards for high-elevation viaducts are the same, but the columns must be 3x3 smooth stone instead of 1x1.
Canals must be no less than 5 blocks wide at their narrowest point, must be marked with buoys placed at a consistent interval and connected to the ground with a 1x1 column of stone, smooth stone, cobblestone, deepslate, cobbled deepslate, diorite, andesite, or granite (or polished version of any of the above). Bouys should be marked with a torch for easy nighttime navigation. There's no exact required interval for buoy placement, but someone who's never navigated the route before should be able to follow it by progressing from buoy to buoy without getting lost. Generally, from one buoy, you should be able to see the next two buoys along the route. For canals that pass through terrain, torches can be placed along the bank of the shore to mark the route. Canals can be created manually, but they must be filled with still water. Changes in elevation should be minimal. The ends of sea routes should have a harbor for storing boats, which should be lit with torches to prevent mob spawning in the vicinity.

Side profile of a low-elevation viaduct. At its highest point, it is 10 blocks above the surface. If the surface got lower, it would either need to follow the surface at half-block increments with slabs, or would need to use the 3x3 high-elevation viaduct columns for the high portion.
The server uses the Craftconomy 3 economy plugin, the commands for which can be found below. Some commands are restricted.
You can send items to another player by holding them in your hand and typing /send. By default, the quantity held in your hand is what is sent. To send fewer items than that, you can type /send [playername] [quantity].
Players can take advantage of an "online" type marketplace to sell and buy goods. To view the listings on the marketplace, type /mp listings. To sell an item on the marketplace, hold it and type /mp add [price] where [price] is the per-unit price of what you want to sell. If you hold more than one of the item in your hand and add it to the marketplace, multiple of the item will be added to the marketplace and they'll sell for your specified price. There is no notification when an item is sold. To buy an item, view it in the market place and click twice. It will then be added to your mailbox. To view your mailbox, you can either click the icon in the marketplace, or type /mp mails.
The other way of selling merchandise is to use a chest shop. To create one, place a chest and whack it with the item you want to sell. Prompts will appear and guide you through the rest of the process. There is one admin shop on the entire map, which buys any amount of diamonds at $1,000 each. All other diamond transactions must be conducted amongst other players. There will never be another location for the admin shop, and it will never change prices or move, so if you want to be guaranteed the ability to sell diamonds for $1,000, you should either live close to that shop or make arrangements to travel there.
